Melted Snowman Cookies

Melted Snowman Cookies by Nour

Serving Size:

  • Around 16 cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 3/4 cups All-purpose flour

Royal icing

  • 4 cups powdered sugar

  • 3 tbsp meringue powder

  • 4 tbsp warm water

Toppings

  • Marshmallows

  • M&M

Instructions

Step 1

  • Preheat oven to 350F (180C). Line a baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.

Step 2

  • Beat butter until it's fluffy or turns an off-white colour (about 3 minutes).

Step 3

  • Add in the granulated sugar and mix until fluffy (about 2 minutes).

Step 4

  • Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix well.

Step 5

  • Add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.

Step 6

  • Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough until it’s about a 1/2 a cm thick (thicker = Softer cookies). Use a circular cup/cookie cutter and cut out the dough.

Step 7

  • Bake for 10 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden. Let the cookies cool completely before frosting.

Step 8

  • For the Royal icing, add the powdered sugar and meringue powder in a bowl. Mix until combined. Add one tbsp at a time from the water to achieve the consistency wanted. (Don't forget to leave a thick quantity to draw with)!

Step 9

  • Dye some of the royal icing orange and black and add to piping bags. (Don't forget to leave some white). Use the white, runny consistency of royal icing to apply to the cookies. Draw the eyes with the black icing and the nose with the orange icing on to the marshmallow. Add the marshmallow on the cookie. Let slightly cool before drawing on the hands and adding the M&Ms.
