Buttercream Frosting

Ingredients

  • 3 cups butter, softened

  • 5 cups powdered sugar

  • 2 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 3 tbsp heavy whipping cream

Instructions

Step 1

  • Place softened butter in stand mixer. Beat the butter for about 15 minutes. Stop every 5 minutes and scrape down the sides of the bowl.

Step 2

  • Slowly add the powdered sugar, adding one cup at a time while scraping the sides of the bowl.

Step 3

  • After adding all the powdered sugar, it will be thick. Add heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Beat it for a few more minutes.

Step 4

  • Lastly, beat it for about 5 more minutes on low speed to get any air bubbles out. To make the frosting extra smooth, stir it by hand with a rubber spatula for 1–2 minutes before using! This will help by removing any extra air so that it’s much easier to pipe or smooth on cakes.
