  1. Melting Sugar: use a medium low heat to melt the sugar. Gently mix the sugar every 30 seconds until melted (about 5 to 6 minutes).

  2. Mix In The Butter: take off the heat immediately, once the sugar has completely melted, so it doesn’t burn.

  3. Use room temperature butter.

This homemade caramel sauce is so easy, delicious and simple. It only requires the 3 following ingredients:

  • Granulated Sugar

  • Heavy Cream

  • Salt

How To Store Caramel Sauce?

Once the caramel sauce has fully cooled, place into a jar or bowl and place in the fridge for up to a month. The caramel sauce will harden as it cools, but don’t worry. When the caramel is ready to be used again, reheat it in the microwave or over the stove, until it becomes liquid again. If you want the caramel sauce to last longer, it can be feezed up to 3 to 4 months in the freezer. Before using, allow to thaw at room temperature, then reheat before enjoying.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 5 tbsp butter, room temperatures

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 tsp salt

Step 1

  • In a medium size saucepan, add the sugar over medium low. Gently mix the sugar every 30 seconds until melted (about 5 to 6 minutes). The sugar will form clumps before fully melting and turning into a deep amber colour.

Step 2

  • Once the sugar has completely melted, take off the heat immediately, so it doesn’t burn, then mix in the room temperature butter. The mixture will start to bubble, so be careful. Once the mixture is mostly incorporated, put it back over medium low heat and mix.

Step 3

  • Next, pour the heavy cream and add the salt. Stir until everything is incorporated. Let the caramel sauce cool before using. Enjoy!
